About Us
[ bio space ] is about understanding heritage and context, sustainability, and the need to cater to contemporary needs. We are passionate about helping to create healthy, functional homes that are sympathetic to their history and the environment, sharing our knowledge and dedication with a growing community of tradespeople, homeowners and DIY enthusiasts who have the same vision.
We are happy and proud to be an independent, small company based in North East Hampshire who pride ourselves in being able to provide the best service to our customers.
[ bio space ] was started in 2024 by Rupert Fitzhugh. He read archaeology at the University of Bristol and worked for many years in financial services, but with a long stint in construction and restoration project management. He worked on high value residential and commercial projects in London including a mews restoration in Holland Park, a listed mansion block in Hackney and a large regency property in Kensington.
Having specialised in the archaeology of the Middle Ages as an undergraduate, Rupert’s interest and passion for the medieval built environment became very real with the purchase of an unloved hall house nearly ten years ago. He since began a long program of refurbishment.
The knowledge and passion built over this long period has allowed him to be in a position to select from the market a targeted range of the most sympathetic, high performance and environmentally conscious materials available.
